New pack for The Love of Chilies

Finally. With our new stock comes a new look! Black is the new green. The new packaging is ready and we are ready to sell our aromatic chilies again. Maybe you experienced yourself that our black tin did not fit into your mailbox and you had to go all the way to the post office to pick up your supply of fiery chilies. Our refill packs were convenient, but not really ecological. For these reasons, we are now piloting our new “Green pack in black.” This packaging is made of recycled materials* and should fit in your mailbox.

For this pilot we came up with something extra “warm.” We will support the Berlin City Mission in providing warm shelters, a warm meal and medical help to homeless people. For each pilot pack sold, we will donate €2 to the Berlin City Mission. In this way, our chilies are providing a little more warmth in a special way. This pilot will run until we run out of stock. Then we’ll decide how to continue, mostly based on your feedback regarding the new eco pack.

OK, we have spoken enough about packaging. Most of all, we are psyched that the new harvest turned out so well again. Thanks to our favorite family farmers on the Finca la Sarantontona. Bon Appetit.

* After a long quest, we discovered our new eco-pack at the Bavarian packaging company Ströbel. Here, from the manufacturer’s product description: “The material we use for these bags is a composite of brown kraft paper and barrier film. This barrier is made of environmentally friendly PE film laminate, which requires less energy to produce than is the case with aluminum.” Thanks for innovating, Team Ströbel.

PS: Don’t be surprised if some of the packages come from the UK. Josefina is currently based there.

About us

Josefina Petrus and
Anna Yukiko Bickenbach

We love chilies; both of us from childhood. Our backgrounds could not have been more different. Josefina accompanied her parents on trips to India. Anna grew up on three continents, including on the island of Okinawa, where chilies are soaked in sake.

Both of us have had the opportunity to do many fantastic things. Josefina has produced films, coached basketball, worked for the charity platform Betterplace.org and served as a Board Member of a British school. Anna plays serious volleyball and co-founded the ecological platform Ecotastic.

We don’t like to compromise… if it is possible to have the best quality, why do for less. And we casually relish chilies like others do candy.
